If you are a firefighter, no matter career or volunteer, you have most likely heard about or been on a scene like this. Sad, what we often forget is that there is every chance that a fire such as this, could happen at your home or my home. Just because we are firefighters (or other first responders) does not preclude us from calamity. Just a couple of months ago, a volunteer firefighter in upstate New York, lost his home to a fire. Luckily, he and his family escaped injury, but lost most possessions. Who was going to help them? A "Go Fund Me" account was created and I donated there. However, there may not always be someone to set up a fundraiser if one of us suffers and we do not know where to go or what to do next. THAT is why we created our nonprofit, 5-Alarm Task Force Corp.
While some of the public may see us wearing capes and as super-heroes, we are as human as they are. We share joy and happiness, as well as loss and grief. Add to all of that, our present, world-wide crisis and the pressure on first responders is higher than ever.
With that said, we want to try and help YOU! If you find yourself in a dire situation, we want you to let us know. Please send an email to [email protected], and please provide as much detail as you can, regarding your situation. It is important for you to include your real name, address and phone number, so that we get contact you to vet your situation. You will be contacted by me (Steve Greene) or Chief Andrew Starnes or Firefighter Nic Higgins, to follow up on your email.
What is important to remember as you read this our "DONATE" buttons are live on this website, to raise the necessary funds to be able to assist others. At this time, we are working to raise funds for the Foundation and will strive to do the best we can.
If you are just reading this out of curiosity, it is our hope that you will want to help us too, either with a personal donation or, you may be affiliated with a company that would like to help us. And that would be wonderful!
In the end, we are a family - always have be been and always will be! And if we do not take care of each other, who will?
If you have any general questions about the program, please send an email to us at [email protected] and we will do our best to answer those questions for you.
Thank you. Stay Safe & Stay Well!
